Awakening Gratitude

Scripture: Psalm 118:24
"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Wisdom: Gratitude begins with noticing. Today is not random—it is given. Gratitude begins with awakening—a conscious decision to see what is already present.

The Hebrew tone of this verse carries intentionality: this day is not accidental, not wasted, not insignificant. It is crafted by God. That means there is purpose embedded in ordinary moments. Often, the soul rushes past what the spirit is trying to reveal. We look for the extraordinary while God is speaking through the ordinary.

Gratitude slows you down enough to notice:

The breath you didn’t have to earn

The moment of peace that passed quietly

The strength that carried you when you didn’t acknowledge it

When you begin to notice, you begin to reframe.

And when you reframe, your inner world starts to heal.

Gratitude is not pretending everything is perfect—it is recognizing that God is present within everything.

Today is an invitation:

Not just to live it…but to receive it.

Prompt:
What are 5 simple things from today that I often overlook but can thank God for?

If this feels difficult, don’t avoid that—explore it.

Ask yourself:

What is blocking my ability to feel gratitude right now? Am I numb, overwhelmed, or distracted? Then gently invite God into that space. Gratitude is not forced—it is cultivated.

Closing Prayer

Lord, open my eyes today.Where I have been distracted, slow me down. Where I have overlooked Your goodness, awaken me. Teach my heart to recognize You in the ordinary. Let gratitude become more than words—let it become the lens through which I see my life. Amen
